We’re thrilled to announce a new partnership with 2 Minute MedicineⓇ (2MM).

2MM is an award winning study summary service that provides physician-authored summaries of the latest, high-impact, clinical trials. Their summaries are designed to be quick and easy to read, allowing busy clinicians to stay current with the latest research while they continue to care for their patients.

Ann Bilyew, Senior Vice President, Health and Group General Manager, WebMD Provider Services commented: “2 Minute Medicine’s physician-authored summaries will help us further increase the pace of delivering practice-changing research and recommendations to the busy clinicians that rely on our product, and continue to close the gap between bench and bedside.”

It’s an obvious strategic fit, but it’s also what you, our users, have been asking for. In a recent survey 69.2% of QxMD users said they would like to receive ‘summaries of trending articles’. When we delved deeper on this point users commented that they prefer to read summaries, when available, over the journal article itself. This sentiment was reflected in a report from Doximity released earlier this month, physicians indicated brevity is the key to efficiency, with 91% rating short-form articles as an efficient way to review medical news. This makes sense given 40% of physicians said they only have 15 minutes or less a day to review medical news!

We have started to address this through our work with QxMD Contributors to develop ‘Speed Reads’ of trending articles on an ad hoc basis. Licensing and integrating 2MM’s content into Read will allow us to provide summaries more regularly, across more specialties.

Users have also repeatedly highlighted the importance of expert driven content. When asked about collections one user commented “It depends who is curating the collection. I want to make sure I can trust the person creating it. If it was an expert, I would love to follow them”, another simply said “I only care about comments from experts.”

We wanted to find a solution that our users can trust and digest without having to question the credibility. 2MM’s content satisfies this goal, it is carefully curated, written, and peer-reviewed by practicing physicians and health professionals from top hospitals and medical universities with clinical and scientific expertise in their field of reporting.

What does this mean for our users?

We’ve worked hard to make this as seamless as possible for you — we want you to be able to access these summaries without having to change how you interact with our platform. Therefore, all summaries created by 2MM will automatically be integrated into Read and converted into the format you are familiar with. You don’t need an account with 2 Minute Medicine and don’t need to leave the Read platform.

You will start to see 2MM’s summaries appearing in your featured feeds on Web, Android and iOS. As you can see in the images, we’ve created a new ‘Summary’ tag so you can easily identify them. Of course, as with all content on Read, the summaries you see will be influenced by your followed specialties, keywords, collections and journals. For a reminder on how to set these up, check out our Zen desk page. If you wish to actively seek out summaries you can search for the title of the summary and soon you’ll be able to follow them as a journal.

We are delighted to release this new functionality and very excited to hear what you think! This is just the start of our partnership with 2MM and we are already exploring ways to further improve the integration, but if you have any feedback or ideas, please let us know
